Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has described Paul Pogba as a problem for the Old Trafford side.
He made this known following Man United’s defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Along with the entire team, the Frenchman has been in terrible form. United have failed to win and score in their last three games.
Speaking after the Man City game, Keane said, Manchester Evening News reports: If you’re going to be a good team-mate, you need to run back when you’re defending.
“It certainly got a bit heated after the game (last week). I heard they were throwing their hair gel at each other because it got that heated!
“The guy is a talented, talented boy but we’re saying the same things over and over again.
“The times I’ve seen him in games not running back or even sprinting back. He’s talking about body language, throwing his arms up in the air. No, he’s a big problem for United.”
Recent reports indicate that the World Cup winner has told teammates that he wants to leave the club.
The former Juventus man was linked with a move to Barcelona last summer, but a move was blocked by the club.
Pogba has been linked with a move away from Man United, with Real Madrid a possible destination. But reports coming out of Spain have indicated that the Frenchman is not wanted by the hierarchy at Real.
United need to keep players like Pogba if they want to return to the top of English and European football. But given Pogba’s previous plan to leave the club and having left the club in the past, the commitment of the Frenchman is not certain.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may also have difficulty keeping the likes of Ander Herrera and Juan Mata if the club fails to qualify for the Champions League.
Herrera is reportedly set to join French side Paris Saint-Germain, while Mata is yet to commit to a new deal with the club.
Mata’s father recently confirmed that the Spaniard has been offered a new contract at United, but is yet to sign it.
“Manchester United have offered to renew us, we are very happy,” his father told Cadena SER.
“But there are proposals from Champions League teams.
“Spain, maybe, but today is not the day to talk, it is not yet decided.”
