Meet The Powerful men Behind Buhari's 2019 Election Victory

Ahead of his swearing-in for his second and final term in office, we take a closer look at the men, who help return President Muhammadu Buhari of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, to power.

These men are not only politicians, they are part of the president’s inner circle that turned the Next Level campaign into an election victory for the president.

From the powerful Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari to the Jagaban of Nigerian politics, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, here are the men who will dictate the policy direction of the administration for the next four years.

We start off our list with the man who decides who sees the president or not.

Abba Kyari, chief of staff to president Buhari is a member of his inner circle that dictates the affairs of the country. The quiet but influential banker ensured his principal won reelection by ensuring a smooth campaign for the president.

His vast network was also critical to the block votes the president got in the North-East of Nigeria. If rumors are true, the trained lawyer would be keeping his position for another four years.

Second on our list is Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The former Lagos governor remains one of the most influential and powerful politician of our time.

From his brainchild merger of the Action Congress of Nigeria ACN, with Buhari’s Congress of Progressive Change, CPC, which now gave birth to the APC, Asiwaju fought tooth and nail to help wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, who had vowed to ruled for ever.

His political calculations, which is second to none has made him the most powerful politician from the South-West region.

No wonder, the president handed Tinubu his 2019 reelection campaign organisation, which ensured he delivered the much needed votes that guaranteed Buhari’s return to office after the first ballot.

Next on our list is the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

The former Labour leader turn politician initially found it hard to drop his activism posture for that of a maverick politician, but after some initial road blocks including revolt from within his party, the former Edo governor found his way and help delivered the much needed victory for President Buhari.

His name will definitely be mentioned among the men who helped Buhari return to Aso Rock.

APC Presidential Campaign Council

This exclusive list of politicians cannot be ruled out for their hardwork and dedication towards the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari.

From Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to campaign DG Rotimi Amaechi, these foot soldiers including state governors ensured the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Atiku Abubakar, never actualise his dream of becoming president.

John Momoh’s Channels TV

The media has always been a key factor in deciding who becomes the president of any nation. No wonder, the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, ensured it maintained a close relationship with the mass media (electronic, print etc) after its surprised victory in 2015.

Channels TV was one of the many platforms that help push the Next Level agenda of president Buhari to every nook and cranny of the country.

From paid adverts to campaign coverage, Buhari’s message was seen on TV more than that of the opposition. This help influence the outcome of the February 23 elections, and as expected the APC candidate won convincingly.

Nigerian Masses

The list cannot be complete without acknowledging the contribution of the average Nigerian.

This category of voters gave the president a massive block vote that ended the Presidential ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The average Nigerian believes the president is a man of integrity compared to his main challenger in the February 23 Presidential elections, who has massive corruption allegations to his name.
