The Nigeria movie industry is not as it used to be a few years back. I mean back then, you can hit the screen with any movie, but It’s now very competitive and Nigerians are more discerning with the type of movie they watch.


Being among the A-list Actors and losing it is difficult to bear, but not as frustrating as trying to come back and keep failing.

THE WHISTLER has gone through some six major Actors/Actresses who were very popular few years back but have lost their shine now.

Nkiru Sylvanus

Veteran Nollwyood actress, Nkiru Silvanus, has really kept her fans wondering as it has been a while since she was seen on screen.

Well, some years back, the actress was busy in her political office as she got an appointment in Imo state and after her tenure, she suddenly went underground.

Saint Obi

Obinna Nwafor popularly known as Saint Obi, is a Nigerian actor, producer and director. Saint Obi is best known for his roles in Candle Light, Sakobi, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Executive Crime and Last Party.

Well, the actor has not been on the screen for a while now which seems like he has given up on his acting career.

Oge Okoye

Nigerian actress Oge Okoye joined the Nigeria movie industry (Nollywood) in 2001 and in 2002 she rose to fame after starring in the blockbuster movie “Spanner” alongside with Chinedu Ikedieze.

She went missing for a while before coming back on the scene. In 2015, Oge Okoye starred at the popular television series “Hotel Majestic” where she played the role of Patricia the Chamber Maid.

Nonso Diobi

Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi featured in movies like Ass on Fire, Bafana Bafana, and Maker of Justice. The actor was one of the handsome faces of Nollywood. He featured in over 150 movies before he disappeared from the screen.

Sam Dede

Nollywood Actor Sam Dede was known for his role in Igodo, Issakaba, Mission to Nowhere, Blood and Oil and Undercover. He left the movie industry for politics as he was appointed the Director-General of the Rivers State Tourism Development in 2012.

Hank Anuku

Hank is a Nollywood actor who often stars as a villain. He however has not been a regular face in the movie scene since picked up a political appointment.

The Actor became a Ghanaian having naturalised his Nigerian citizenship. He relocated and changed his name to Nana Kwame Fifi Kakra Anuku.

Air Peace De-board Passenger For Asking Attendant To Translate Safety Instructions To Igbo Because 'He Does Not Speak English'

Iwarah declared that his de-boarding was necessary in a bid to guarantee the safety of its crew and customers and said it would not tolerate an act that would jeopardise safety on any of its flights. A passenger with Air Peace was today de-boarded by the airline over claims that he could not communicate in English during safety briefing. The passenger identified as Mr. Christopher Aniagboso told the cabin crew to translate the safety briefing for passengers in the over-wing exit seats in Igbo language and not English as is the standard. The airline in a statement by its spokesman, Mr. Chris Iwarah, said that other passengers around him offered to translate what was being said in English to him, but he insisted that the crew must brief him in Igbo language.
