FG Acquires Radio Licence To Broadcast To Herdsmen

- The federal government has acquired a radio licence to broadcast to herdsmen

- According to the FG, this will help in reaching out to the herders with the message of peace, unity, tolerance and education

- Going further, the FG said the radio service would operate on frequency of 720KHz, and will be strictly in Fulani language

The minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has on Tuesday, May 22, revealed that the federal government has acquired an Amplitude Modulation (AM) radio broadcast licence that would be used to reach out to herdsmen in different locations in Nigeria.

The federal government said this is done in an effort to end farmers/herders crisis across some states.

According to Adamu, the FG discovered that radio is the choice means of news for herdsmen, and using this means will help in reaching out to them with the message of peace, unity, tolerance and education.

Going further, the minister said the radio service would operate on frequency of 720KHz, and will be strictly in Fulani language, The Sun reports.

“Additionally, it will enhance our capacity to address crisis between herders and farmers with attendant consequences to loss of lives, destruction of productive assets, nomadic schools, facilities teaching and learning resources,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that nobel laureate Wole Soyinka on Wednesday, May 22, urged the federal government not to ignore comments made by a Nigeria's former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, over insecurity in the country.

Soyinka said Obasanjo's remarks that the activities of Boko Haram and herdsmen in Nigeria are now West African Fulanisation and Islamisation agenda should not be taken lightly.

Air Peace De-board Passenger For Asking Attendant To Translate Safety Instructions To Igbo Because 'He Does Not Speak English'

Iwarah declared that his de-boarding was necessary in a bid to guarantee the safety of its crew and customers and said it would not tolerate an act that would jeopardise safety on any of its flights. A passenger with Air Peace was today de-boarded by the airline over claims that he could not communicate in English during safety briefing.
